Hal Jordan wanted nothing more than to be a Airplane Pilot and stepping into the footsteps of his father and at later age he signed up at several places but get rejected everywhere but one place .
After some time he went on a fly run and crashed the plane , the boss of the place wasn’t pleased one bit and re-assigned Jordan to be a Airplane mechanic instead.
Not only that but he also has a horrible customer which is the teacher’s pet of the academy , Jordan hates his guts.
Jordan goes to the boss of the academy and asks he can be re-assigned to pilot again and promises not to make the same mistake again , but the boss refuses.
“ I am the best pilot currently available!” Jordan states with the boss replying” But also the most dangerous” and leaves it at.
Jordan returns to the hanger and sees a plane wreckage being taken away , which strangely is similar to that of he used to fly in with his father and decided to have a look.
Once at the dumpsite he sits down in the seat and closes his eyes for a moment.
Meanwhile in space an Alien-ish looking guy finds himself in a crisis, his aircraft is malfunctioning and doomed to crash upon earth, near the academy where Jordan recites.
Jordan, you have been chosen. Is what Jordan hears and gets beamed to the crash site, while inspecting the crashed aircraft Jordan gets briefed by a voice and finds a dying alien in the cockpit.
With the alien only saying Do you accept this task? Jordan Accepts and receives the Green Lantern ring which gives him the powers to do anything only with his imagination and willpower and together with his powers he gains the shiny green/black suit.
Jordan confused of what just happened sees the alien have his last breath and says I have to get out of here. [ Affirmative] replies the ring on his finger and shoots him into the open air.
In mid air he finds his rival flying his jet and intercept him , stopping and grabbing the jet and throwing him down to the ground, a commotion ensues and people shoot to aid and Jordan lands on the ground You better look after that pilot over there he states to a passing person.
[ more crowd showing , identity : hiding ] the voice says out of the ring and generates a small eyemask.
And with that ends this issue.
